Every summer, thousands of beluga whales gather in Manitoba’s Churchill River, which makes the town of Churchill one of the best places to see—and to study—belugas. Volatus was happy to assist researchers this summer. One of the goals is to understand more about these whales and provide information that will help manage human activities in a way that ensures healthy beluga populations.
We hope you enjoy some of the images taken over the week-long drone-enabled research project done on behalf of Fisheries & Oceans – see here for more information on beluga whales and how we can prevent human activities from impacting them.
