Voices of Volatus: Hash Chishty on Innovation, Autonomy and Solving Real-World Challenges

For Hash Chishty, a career in aerospace has always been about more than the technology itself. With bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Aeronautical & Aerospace Engineering and previous experience as a Boeing 737 Performance Engineer, Hash brings a strong technical foundation to his role as U.K. Sales Manager at Volatus Aerospace.

For close to two years, Hash has helped expand Volatus’ enterprise drone solutions across the U.K., working with organizations to understand complex operational challenges and identify where autonomy and aerial intelligence can deliver meaningful value. From advancing autonomous infrastructure inspections to building strategic client partnerships, his approach is grounded in a simple principle: understand the problem first, then find the right solution.

In this edition of Voices of Volatus, Hash shares what drew him to aerospace, the experiences that shaped his move into technical sales, and why he believes the future of uncrewed technology is ultimately about transforming how industries operate.

What do you enjoy most about working with your team?

The relentless drive to innovate. Every day, I’m surrounded by experts who don’t just understand drone technology, but are deeply passionate about solving complex challenges for our clients. We operate with a shared vision, when you combine that level of technical acumen with a genuinely collaborative spirit, it creates an electric environment where we push each other to excel.

What is one project or accomplishment at Volatus you are especially proud of?

Spearheading the expansion of our enterprise drone solutions across the UK infrastructure sector. Over the past 20 months, securing a key strategic partnership that allowed a major client to transition to autonomous aerial inspections stands out. It wasn’t just a revenue win; it was a testament to how our technology directly enhances safety, efficiency, and sustainability on a massive scale.

What excites you most about the work you do?

Being at the absolute leading edge of the aerospace revolution. We aren’t just selling a product, we are fundamentally transforming how industries operate. From logistics and public safety to agriculture and infrastructure. Helping organisations unlock value they didn’t even know was possible through autonomy and aerial data is incredibly rewarding.

What first sparked your interest in aerospace, aviation, drones, autonomy or technology?

I have a Bachelors and Master’s degree in Aeronautical & Aerospace Engineering, I’ve always been in awe of aviation and it continues to be a passion of mine that I relish.

What skills or experiences have shaped your career the most?

Active listening and the ability to translate complex technical capabilities into clear, actionable business value. Early on, I learned that clients don’t buy technology; they buy solutions to their problems. Pairing a consultative approach with resilience and a deep curiosity for emerging tech has been the cornerstone of my career progression.

How would you describe the culture at Volatus?

Forward-thinking, agile, and deeply supportive. We operate in an industry that evolves by the minute, and our culture reflects that pace. Yet, despite the rapid growth, there’s an inherent belief in empowering individuals. You are given the autonomy to lead, the resources to succeed, and a team that genuinely celebrates collective wins.

What’s something people may be surprised to learn about you?

I used to be a Boeing 737 Performance Engineer before making the pivot into technical sales.

What is the best career advice you’ve received?

Fall in love with the problem, not the solution.” In sales and technology, it’s easy to get tunnel vision on the shiny new product. But if you relentlessly focus on understanding the customer’s core pain points, the right solution will always follow, and the partnerships you build will be unbreakable.
